History of To The Pointe

To The Pointe was created by a group of balletomanes and dance enthusiasts, who wanted to support the art form, increase the audiences at performances, and entice those not familiar with the world of dance. Out of a round table discussion at a neighborhood bistro, the idea was hatched to provide a live, weekly prime time television show, with a variety of hosts and topics pertaining to ballet.

Of the ten people involved in the original group, eight became host/producers. All hosts plan their own shows, invite their guests and appear on camera.

Without a financial sponsor, we each financially contributed to get the ball rolling. The station, which is a teaching environment for local college and university interns, created an introduction for the show with photos and music. They offered an afternoon of on camera training, and on September 3, 2004 To The Pointe was officially on the air.

Our host/producers come from a variety of professional backgrounds.

We hope you enjoy To The Pointe. We want you to keep on your toes!
